HONG KONG, June 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The "DigiCon6 ASIA Awards" is a major annual event in the international animation industry and is recognized as one of the most influential digital content competitions in Asia, attracting talented creators from across the region. Since 2019, The Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association (HKDEA) has partnered with Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc. (TBS) to co-organize DigiCon6 ASIA Awards – Hong Kong, with a mission to identify and celebrate the creative potential of individuals. Over the past decade, the competition has gained strong support from Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), which has become its lead sponsor, enabling the event to grow in both scale and impact.

HKDEA organized the Awards Presentation Ceremony of the "26th DigiCon6 ASIA Awards - Hong Kong" on June 27 in Premiere Elements, to present Gold Awards, Silver Awards and Next Generation Awards, acknowledging exceptional digital content crafted by talented individuals from Hong Kong.
Co-organizers were honoured to have Mr. LAU Chun, Raistlin, JP, Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to be the Guest of Honour to deliver a welcome speech. Mr. Gabriel PANG, Chairman of HKDEA, and Mr. Takafumi YUKI, Representative from DigiCon6 ASIA Headquarters International Alliance also attended the ceremony. On the same occasion, Mr. Hiroyuki Ohashi, Japanese comics producer, Mr. Satō Atsuki, popular visual effects director and VFX supervisor in the Japanese film industry also provided their insights and perspectives on selected winning entries of "26th DigiCon6 ASIA Awards – Hong Kong". Several exceptional local digital works were showcased on-site, enabling visitors to immerse themselves in the allure of Hong Kong animation.
The "26th DigiCon6 ASIA Awards - Hong Kong" attracted 84 applications. Similar to regional contests in other participating countries and regions, Hong Kong's entries had to compete for the Regional Gold Award, Silver Awards and Next Generation Award before they can be nominated to further compete for highest awards in the Grand Final. A total of 14 regions in Asia participated, including Hong Kong, as well as Bangladesh, Mainland China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Thailand. Its Awards Presentation Ceremony was successfully held in Tokyo, Japan in October 2024.
One of this year's representatives from Hong Kong, Morph Workshop, won the "Best Story" award at the DigiCon6 ASIA with its animated entry "Wind Goes On". The film stood out because of its high quality, exciting story, and strong technical skills. It not only had excellent visual effects, but also used creative storytelling and deep emotions that impressed the judges. With great animation and a carefully told story, Morph Workshop once again brought Hong Kong animation to a higher level, showing the talent and strength of local creators on the international stage.
Speaking at the Award Presentation Ceremony, Mr. LAU Chun, Raistlin, JP, Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region congratulated HKDEA and TBS for successfully co-organizing the "26th DigiCon6 ASIA Awards – Hong Kong" and the related activities in Hong Kong, which have made Hong Kong's animation industry even more vibrant and exciting.

"The 26th DigiCon6 ASIA Awards" Extension Activities in Hong Kong
In addition to this awards presentation ceremony, HKDEA also successfully held some extension activities, including the "Asia Masters Forum" and " Screening Session" on 26-27 June, 2025.
"Asia Masters Forum" invited two Asian animation masters from Japan to share their experiences and working process. They were Mr. Hiroyuki Ohashi, Japanese comics producer, Mr. Satō Atsuki, popular visual effects director and VFX supervisor in the Japanese film industry. Both masters shared their valuable experiences and personal insights in animation creation, and engaged with the audience on creative trends and the future direction of the animation industry.
"Screen Session" displayed couples of the award-winning works, including "Wind Goes On" from Hong Kong, "A Night at the Rest Area" and "NIGHT OWL" from Japan. Directors and producers of the screened works were also present to meet the audience and share behind-the-scenes stories and challenges from their creative journey. In addition, local and overseas experts offered live critiques of the works, further fostering creative exchange and dialogue.
